Changan has initiated exports of its all-electric Deepal S05 SUV to Europe, marking the first overseas shipment from the company’s Rayong manufacturing facility in Thailand. The initial consignment includes 500 vehicles, with the Deepal S05 compact electric SUV forming a key part of the shipment.

The Rayong plant represents Changan’s first overseas new-energy vehicle production base. The facility became operational in May 2025 and currently has an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles. Notably, the first vehicle to roll off the assembly line was Changan’s 28.59 millionth vehicle globally, which was also a Deepal S05.

Looking ahead, Changan plans to double the Rayong factory’s production capacity to 200,000 vehicles per year. This expansion underlines the company’s strategy to position Thailand as a regional manufacturing and export hub, particularly to support growing demand in European markets.

The Deepal S05 is the fifth model under the Deepal brand and made its global debut in October 2024. Internationally, the model is offered in multiple configurations, including four battery-electric variants and two extended-range electric variants. In the Nepalese market, however, the Deepal S05 is currently available exclusively in battery-electric form.

In Nepal, the Deepal S05 is offered in two trims, with the Plus variant priced at Rs 49.99 lakh and the Max variant priced at Rs 56.99 lakh.

The SUV measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, and provides a ground clearance of 175 mm. It rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and is powered by a 99 kW electric motor delivering 320 Nm of torque. Energy is supplied by a 56.1 kWh CATL Golden Shield Battery System 2.0, enabling a WLTP-rated driving range of 405 km, or up to 470 km under the NEDC cycle.

For the European market, the Deepal S05 BEV lineup is available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations, paired with a larger 68.82 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack.

The single-motor variant produces 200 kW, equivalent to 268 hp, offers a WLTP range of 485 km, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The dual-motor version delivers a combined system output of 320 kW, or 429 hp, achieves a WLTP range of 445 km, and completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 5.5 seconds.
